Adopt Punkie a Pit Bull Terrier Dog in Missouri

This adorable girl is Punkie.  She's a white and brindle Pit Bull Terrier dog available for adoption from the Humane Society of Missouri.

Punkie is just a little over 1 year old and she still has a lot of that playful puppy energy.  Watch her adoption video and you'll see Punkie loves squeaker dog toys!  She knows how to sit for treats and takes them very gently.

Punkie is a cuddler, a people lover and eager to please.  You'll notice in the video that Punkie is wearing a Gentle Leader head halter, which animal shelter volunteers are using in leash training her.

Have a look at Punkie's adoption video.  For more information about adopting this beautiful young Pit Bull dog, call the Humane Society of Missouri St Louis City animal shelter at 314-951-1562.  Punkie's animal ID number is A551576

Follow-up Friday: Blog Theft, Giveaways, Patience

I'm happy to be joining Heart Like a Dog in the follow-up Friday blog hop this week.  This is the blog hop that lets you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.  Hosted by FUF creator, Jodi at Heart Like a Dog and co-hosted this week by Sue at The Golden Life.

I had a rude awakening yesterday.  In trying to find the lyrics to a song for Dog Song Saturday, I ran into a link that sounded all too familiar.  That's how I discovered http://info-pets4u.blogspot.com/http://info-pets4u.blogspot.com  where a Blogger named Jhonyblog's has copied all of my blog posts since 2011 and some from 2010.  Go ahead, click the link and you'll see what I mean.

Since Jhonyblog's lists no contact information, I went straight to Google Webmasters Tools and reported webspam.   You might want to do a search to explore whether or not your own blog or other posted-on-the-web info has been swiped.  Since my posts were copied exactly, they weren't hard to find searching by title.

And I never did find the dog-goned song lyrics.

Giveaways!
I did a product review of Dog City and Co on Thursday and you can enter to win your choice of one of their very cool dog themed t-shirts!  Click here to enter.
While you're at that blog post, you really should click the link to explore all the great dog lover gifts they offer.

Time is running out to enter to win a For Love of a Dog Paw Print Pet Lover Bracelet.  Hurry and click here to enter.

Wordless Wednesday: Waiting
Thanks for all the comments!  Jeffie, Rudy and Rosie do love their daddy.  They are very patient.  And, NOPE, Jan and Brian,  there were absolutely no treats involved :-)  I'm pretty sure they'd agree with Emma:  dogs spend so much of their lives waiting for their humans!  Dawn is correct.  Rosie is messing around with a very tired and beat up flippy flyer.  The center fabric is gone and when she was younger, Rosie wore it sort of like a Hula Hoop.  BOL!

That's is for me.  Join the hop and share what you've been up to this week!

When the folks at Dog City and Co contacted me to see if I'd like to receive one of their dog lover t-shirts, I jumped at the chance.

The t-shirts at Dog City and Co are unisex and made of 100% pre-shrunk cotton jersey.  They come in 6 sizes (XS through XXL) and 5 colors:  athletic heather, aqua, pink, silver and white.  Currently they have over 40 dog breeds, plus a darn cute dog bone design.

I chose their Labrador T-Shirt in aqua and it is pretty wonderful!

I love the text art in the shape of a Labrador Retriever dog.  The fabric is soft and the t-shirt very comfortable.  And the color?  Crazy about it.

Don't see your dog breed?  Dog City and Co offers a "design your own" option for their products.  For example, you can create your own custom pet silhouette pillow.  Just upload your pet's photo, enter the pet's name or breed, choose silhouette and text colors.

Adopt Wendy a Boxer Mix Dog at Stray Rescue St Louis

Wendy is a four year old Boxer Pit Bull Terrier mix.  She's a medium size dog at 45 pounds and, at only 4 years, she has a lot of pep and energy.
Here's what the staff and volunteers at Stray Rescue St Louis have to say about her:
Wendy is, as her picture shows, a beautiful dog.  Her eyes immediately grab your attention.  They look very wise and soulful, much like Wendy herself.

Wendy was rescued with some of her canine friends.  She was part of a pack of dogs that Stray Rescue had been feeding for some time.
One lucky day, it was Wendy's turn to come inside where she quickly became a favorite of her caregivers and the volunteers.  She has a remarkable desire to please the humans around her and is very loyal to them.
Wendy learns quickly and, among other things, sits on command.  She is also an excellent car rider. Recently Wendy got to go on a five mile hike with her shelter friends.  She took quickly and easily to the trail, becoming a fantastic hiker.  In true Wendy-fashion, she kept an eye on her human companion on the hike.
Wendy gets along with some dogs, but she would need a home without cats.

On those days when things aren't going quite as you planned, think how lucky you would be to have a beautiful, doe-eyed girl eager to snuggle with you and cheer you up.  This is an opportunity you should not let slip by.

For more information about Wendy, contact Stray Rescue St Louis at 314-771-6121.

Founded by Randy Grim, Stray Rescue of St Louis sold purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes.  Virtually all of the pets they save have been abused and neglected.  Stray Rescue is a no-kill organization that believes rescued animals often make the best pets.  Given a second lease on life and in return for a little affection and attention, these remarkable animals reward their new owners with a love and loyalty unmatched anywhere.

On Tuesday we'll be participating in the Tuesday's Tails blog hop hosted by Dogs N Pawz.  This is the blog hop that features shelter pets.  Find a pet at your local animal shelter or rescue and join us!  Please help spread the word about these beautiful animals via social media and let's find them forever homes!

Dog Song Saturday: My Name is Lucy by Erik Hendin

It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.

Today's dog song is a sweet, original song by Erik Hendin.  My Name is Lucy is accompanied by a slideshow of Hendin's little dog.

Here's just a snip of the lyrics:
Please please bring me a bone
The next time you are home.
Come and play with me, can't you see,
I'm restless and I'm hungry here, I just want you near
I'll love you endlessly

Grab a dog.  Sit.  Stay.  Relax and enjoy My Name is Lucy by Erik Hendin.

Follow-up Friday: Pirates, Hotties, Giveaway

I'm happy to be joining Heart Like a Dog in the follow-up Friday blog hop this week.  This is the blog hop that lets you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.  Hosted by FUF creator, Jodi at Heart Like a Dog and co-hosted this week byLinda at 2 Brown Dawgs.

Dog-gone it!  I totally missed out on the Talking Like a Pirate Day yesterday.  And here I have these cute pics of Jeffie and Rudy from the blog post about my Bell's Palsy a couple of years ago.

Wordless Wednesday: More Dog Treats Please
You know, I've figured out why I can no longer snap cute candid photos of my dogs.  They hear the zip of the camera bag or the little ding of the camera and they are SURE that it is time for a dog treat taste test.   Plus, every time UPS or FedEx makes a delivery, they think the package is for them.  Sadly (for me), they're usually right about that!

Thanks for all your lovely comments about my pups.
Jen said she wished she could get pictures of her boys like these.   HA!  Jen's pictures of Leroy and Sherman are always awesome.  And her staged photo sessions of Gibby absolutely delight me.  Hey, Jen... where's Gibby?  Doesn't he play football?
Rita is still flirting with Jeffie.  I think he's a hottie, too, Rita!

Thank you all for the wonderful comments.  This is a super honor for me and my For Love of a Dog jewelry
And, Jan, I am so glad you're loving your For Love of a Dog earrings :-)
I neglected to mention that there is one of these bracelets available at For Love of a Dog, plus you can fetch my new paw print jewelry line to see lots of fun variations on the theme.

Wordless Wednesday: More Dog Treats Please

Thought you might enjoy some out-takes from
Rudy can't resist looking inside the open bag of dog treats.
Jeffie is averting his eyes!
I just love these photos of my sweet Jeffie.  Such a wonderful smile!

I think Rosie is trying to decide if that's a biscuit crumb or a stick in the grass.

C'mon... give it to me!

Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats from Chewy | Product Review

We love Chewy.com and so when they asked if we'd like to try Old Mother Hubbards' dog treats, we quickly agreed.  Jeffie, Rudy and Rosie are always up for a taste testing!

Old Mother Hubbard's classic recipe was originally developed over 80 years ago as a snack for fishermen while out at sea.  These days they bake a variety of dog treats from all-natural ingredients including: chicken, cheddar cheese, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and oatmeal.

We received a 3.5 pound package of Old Mother Hubbard Classic Original Assortment Oven Baked Dog Biscuits to try.  These bone shaped biscuits included Original, Chicken, Cheddar, and Char Tar flavors.  These come in several sizes of treats, from mini to large and in several package size options.  We received a package for large dogs.

Ingredients:  whole wheat flour, oatmeal, wheat bran, chicken fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), chicken, tumeric, charcoal, cane molasses, paprika, paprika extracts, white cheddar cheese, eggs, apples, carrots, garlic, salt.

Nutritional information:
  • Crude Protein - not less than 12%
  • Crude Fat  -  not less than 7%
  • Crude Fiber  -  not more than 5.50%
  • Moisture  -  not more than 11%
Calorie content:
  • Mini  -  8kcal / piece
  • Small  -  33 kcal / piece
  • Large  -  138 kcal / piece
Note:  Old Mother Hubbard does offer wheat-free dog crunchy dog treats: Chick'N'Apples.

You'll notice that our taste testing took place outdoors.  That's because of the caution listed on this bag of dog treats about staining.  According to Old Mother Hubbard, all of their crunchy products that have tumeric in the ingredients carry a caution statement.  Tumeric is a natural spice which is bright yellow in color (they use it to color some of their products naturally.)  However, when combined with the saliva in the dog's mouth, it can sometimes create yellow staining.

These are very large dog biscuits and when we opened the bag we were greeted with the smell of cereal and grain.

Not only were our dogs thrilled at the extra large size of these treats, they loved the taste.

They each got to try two different flavors.  Very crunchy, there was a  lot of satisfied crunching going on.

Then, of course, they had to check for chunks or crumbs in the grass.

We like that these dog treats are made with human grade natural ingredients in the United States.  They looked good, smelled good, and our dogs loved them.  Our order from Chewy.com was filled and shipped to us super fast.  Jeffie loves the bonus he receives with Chewy.com orders:  another chance to protect us from the FedEx man.
.Rosie is keeping an eye on the bag, hoping some more biscuits will jump out and into her jaws!

We're pleased to give Old Mother Hubbard Classic dog treats and Chewy.com all paws up for any dogs who are not sensitive to wheat, paprika or tumeric.  Note: we did notice any problem with the tumeric leaving any stains when the dogs each had one of these dog biscuits inside the house.  Plus, we received these dog treats from Chewy.com, a company we love for their superior customer service, super fast home delivery, easy to navigate website, and wide selection of pet food and supplies.
* We received one bag of Old Mother Hubbard Classic dog biscuits from Chewy.com in exchange for our honest review of the product and service.  We received no other compensation - financial or otherwise.

We're joining the Tasty Tuesday blog hop today.  This is a blog hop that celebrates good food, sponsored by Sugar the Golden Retriever and Kols Notes.

Adopt Holly, a Coonhound Dog at Wayside Waifs

This beautiful Coonhound is Holly.  She's a little over 2 years old and available for adoption from Wayside Waifs in Kansas City.  Here's what she has to say:
Hi, there my name is Holly and I am the sweetest natured girl you will ever meet. I am a 2-year-old Coonhound and I am ready to leave this place for my new forever home. I came to wayside from an Overcrowded Shelter and now I am ready to leave for my new home. I hope that because you are viewing my photo that you are considering me as your new best friend. I am so ready to head out of here.

It is quite certain that I am housetrained but I do ask for your patience and understanding though as I learn the routine of my new surroundings. I am a very active girl but I could learn a lot more if I had a little basic training so that I could become the best dog ever. You see I have not had the greatest life lately but I am still the sweetest girl you will ever meet.

I am eager to please and I am great on my Leash as I enthusiastic listen and obey to the commands of my handlers. I love my walks and the Dog Park is my favorite activity, as I run and play.

Although Wayside have no record nor have they seen any signs of aggression in me, I will need to meet all kids and Canine family members before I can go to my new home. I just want to make certain we are a compatible family before we start our life together.

As with all animals from Wayside, before going to my new home, I will be Altered, up to date with my Shots, Heartworm Medications, Flea Control and I will have a Micro Chip. In other words, my makeup is in my purse and I am read to hear you say "COME ON HOLLY, WE'RE HEADING HOME."
Well that is just about all I can tell you about me. I just hope that you will come by Wayside, stop by the Adoption Desk, and ask for Holly, I will be waiting with a wagging tail.
Love and Kisses,
Holly
Contact Wayside Waifs at 816-761-8151   Holly's Animal ID number is 20739080.

Established in 1940, Wayside Waifs is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. Wayside is the largest no kill pet adoption campus in Kansas City, placing approximately 5,400 animals each year. Wayside does not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for animals in our care. Only animals suffering from significant medical issues or those that pose a danger are humanely euthanized. Wayside Waifs is proud to be a part of Kansas City's no kill community.
