Adopt Lyla a #CatahoulaLeopardDog mix dog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

This gorgeous girl is Lyla.  She's a 5 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix.  Lyla is looking for a forever home where she can be the only dog.   She's love a simply and laidback life with a consistent routine.

Hi there! I'm Lyla. I'm a sweet, somewhat shy, simple sort of dog who just wants a quiet and calm home where I can enjoy life with my family. That's it. I'm well behaved, easygoing, sweet natured, and sort of independent. I won't ask for much, and I'll try my best to follow all of your rules. It makes me sad that I'm homeless yet again, but I understand. I'll get through this and my life will be better than ever!

I'm a stunning, 56 pound, already housebroken and crate trained, Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. Have you heard of my breed? We're unique and special, frequently with one blue eye and one brown eye, which I have and I like to show off. I'm also true to my breed in that I'm loyal, protective, and athletic. I've had sort of a rough go of it though. I found myself homeless a couple years back, living at the shelter in Clinton, MO. I was transferred to Wayside, where I was adopted by a nice family. Things didn't work out for me there though. My family loved me very much and had lots of great things to say about me. But I liked to pick fights with my dog brother over all sorts of silly things. My dad was afraid that the 4 year old little girl who lived with us would get caught in the middle of things, so he decided that I would be better off with a new family. I didn't mean to cause any trouble, but I'm grateful that I'm back at Wayside, so that I can find you. And now we know that I'm looking for a home where I can be the only animal. No other dogs or cats for me, please.
I'm a quiet and super sweet dog who doesn't really like to be the center of attention. Oh, with my family and close friends, I bond deeply and am very affectionate. But I'm shy and reserved around strangers. I'm looking for a new home with a quiet and calm energy, so that I can just relax and be myself. I'm happy at home and I don't need lots of adventure in my life to keep things exciting. A nice night curled up next to you on the couch is all the excitement I need. I do enjoy going for a walk or run and I'll be a great exercise partner for you. I do very well on my leash. And while I don't particularly like other dogs, I'm not reactive at all when I see them during walks, as long as they keep their distance. I'm not the sort of dog who will enjoy trips to the dog park though. Outdoor play in my own backyard is fine with me!

I'm a smart gal and I've already had lots of training, so I can't wait to show you everything I know. I love treats and toys and it makes me so happy when you praise me, so I'm an easy dog to train. Please just be patient with me as I get acclimated to my new home, and remember that I'll pick up on things quickly. If you give me praise when I'm a good girl, I will quickly learn what you expect and will be sure to repeat my good behavior. Knowing I am making you happy will build my confidence, too. I'd like to meet the whole family before we all go home together. I lived with a 4 year old, but I might be happiest in a home with older kids, since I can be shy and I like people in my space on my own terms. And again, I need a home without any other animals.

I long for a home and a family to belong to and hang out with. I'd love a simple and laidback life with a consistent routine. And I will make a wonderful, loyal companion for you! That's my purpose in life...to be your dog and to make your life happier, just by having me in it. I will be so good at that! Please come out to meet me and give me the chance to shine!
Love, Lyla

Adopt Harley a #Hound #Dog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

This beautiful boy is Harley.  He's almost 2 years old and was a stray before he found himself at the animal shelter.  He's a bit shy of strangers and would really like a quiet forever home.

Harley is house trained and also know the commands shake, look, stay, sit, down, come, off, drop it and leave it!  Read more about Harley in his adoption message:
Hey there, I'm Harley! I'm an adorable hound mix weighing about 43 pounds who was found as a stray then brought here to Wayside Waifs! I'm so happy I made my way here because I'm getting the second chance at life that I deserve. I can't wait to find my peeps and get to my new home. Strangers can be a bit scary so I'll need to have time to warm up to my people and really get comfortable. I'll do best with children over the age of 5 and as the only furry friend in the house. I'll enjoy a nice, quiet home so I can relax.
Exercise is an important part of any happy, healthy pup's life so let's get active! I love to explore the world on walks or romp around the backyard. I have a pretty moderate energy level so when we're done getting our workout in I won't mind curling up next to you for a relaxing, afternoon snuggle. Belly rubs welcomed! I'm super smart and already know lots of commands such as shake, look, stay, sit, down, come, off, drop it, and leave it. I'm also house trained! With continued training and extra motivation from yummy treats or fun toys I know I'll be able to learn even more! If a handsome, smart guy is what you're looking for in a companion then you've hit the jack pot. Come meet me soon at Wayside Waifs!

Meet Suzie!  This cute girl is a small Lab mix who is 3 years old.  She's hoping for a loving forever home with people who will take her on walks, teach her a few tricks and let her love them.

Here's Suzie's adoption message:
Hey there! I'm Suzie, an adorable, Retriever/Lab mix, weighing about 48 pounds and looking for a place to call my own. I was transferred here when my last shelter ran out of space for me. I was pretty bummed but now I see that here I have the best chance at meeting the right peeps for me. I may do best as the queen of my castle when it comes to other animals but I'll do grr-eat with children.
I have a lot of energy to spare and will need a home where I can stay active! I love to get out and explore the world on walks and the peeps here say I do pretty well sticking right by your side on my leash instead of pulling ahead. I'm super smart and know a lot of commands already like sit, down, come, look, target, and off!
With continued training and extra motivation from yummy treats I know I'll be able to learn even more from you! It won't take long for me to learn exactly what you expect from me and become the companion you've always dreamed of. I can't wait to get to my fur-ever home and show my peeps just how much love and affection I have to offer. I hope you'll come meet me soon to find out if those peeps could be you! Adopt Liberty a 10 Year Old #Pitbull #SeniorDog @WaysideWaifs

This adorable girl is Liberty.  She's a 10 year old senior Pit Bull mix dog who was dumped at Wayside Waifs animal shelter in Kansas City, Missouri.  Luckily for her, Wayside is Kansas City's largest no-kill shelter and the folks there are taking good care of her.

If you're looking for a walking companion who loves to snuggle, then Liberty is your girl!  Here's her adoption message:
Hello there, I'm Liberty! I'm the sweetest gal you'll ever meet. I'm friendly and social, in a gentle sort of way, and I love to be by your side. I will make a wonderful companion for you!

I'm not one to complain or feel sorry for myself. And I certainly don't want to make you sad! But things have been sort of rough for me lately. It's no secret that, at 10 years old, I'm classified as a senior. And I found myself not only homeless, but abandoned and dumped at Wayside. It all seemed so unfair. But I smiled and I wagged my tail and I was so sweet to the Wayside staff that they couldn't help but fall in love with me. And I know some people will pass me by because of my age, but I want you to remember that age is just a number. None of us knows how long we have left on this earth, so the key is to appreciate and celebrate each and every day. I'm an expert at that!
When I got here, the doc noticed that overall I looked really healthy, but my mouth and teeth were in awful shape! So I had a doggie dental performed on me the other day. It wasn't fun, but I loved that someone cared enough about me to help me be healthier in the long run. So that's done and now I can move on and concentrate on finding you! I have such a delightful personality! I make people smile. I love to get out of my kennel and go for a leisurely walk whenever possible. I look a little like a pot-bellied pig, ambling down the sidewalk with a smile on my face. I love the fresh air and the attention I get from my volunteer friends. And I love to sit by your side, soaking up all the attention you give me.

I long to make you happy, so I hope you will praise me when I am a good girl. If you will be patient and gentle with me and offer me plenty of positive reinforcement, I will learn what you expect from me in no time at all. I can't wait to get started learning my new routine with you. I hope I can meet the whole family before we all go home together. I'd like a home as your only animal, please, because I don't really care for other dogs. I just don't want to compete with them for your attention, but I promise I'll show you so much doggie love that I will be enough for you!

I'm so glad you decided to take the time to read about me! It makes me feel special and peaceful when I know people care. I'm just a simple, sweet dog looking for a new home. That's all. I hope I can spend the rest of my life with you!
Love, Liberty

Adopt Furry Valentine Bungee a Young #Shepherd Mix Dog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

This good looking guy is Bungee and he's love to be your valentine! He's 1 1/2 years old and animal shelter staff and volunteers report he's a real sweetie. Bungee is young enough to still have some of that amazing puppy energy, but old enough to know basic commands. He's a beautiful Shepherd dog mix with some pawsome eyebrows and would love to snuggle up with you on Valentine's Day and every day after.

Here's Bungee's adoption message:
Hi, I'm Bungee! I'm an adorable Shepherd mix with soft, tan and black fur who's looking for a home to call mine. I came to Wayside from another shelter who ran out of space for me, was adopted, then returned again. I was really sad at first but I know I'm getting the best chance at life here. I hope to find a family who I can give all my love and kisses to. Think that might be you? I'll do grr-eat with other furry friends and children but I'd like to meet them first to get an idea of how I might do once we're home.
I have a high energy level so staying active is very important. I love to romp around the backyard or explore the world on walks. I'll benefit from using a harness on walks because I get so excited about all the new sights and smells and tend to pull ahead. With some basic obedience training I'll be able to learn exactly what you expect from me in my new home. I already know the command sit and I'm super smart so I know I'll be able to learn even more. I'm especially motivated to learn by praise or yummy treats! I can't wait to find the perfect peeps to snuggle up with in my new home. If I sound like the type of guy you've been looking for, come by Wayside Waifs soon to meet me!
Tail wags,  Bungee

Adopt Ebony a #Lab Mix #BlackDog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

This adorable girl is Ebony.  She's a 1 year Labrador Retriever mix. Ebony still has lots of puppy energy and is looking for a best friend who can work with her obedience training.

Here's Ebony's adoption message:
Hey, I'm Ebony! I was transferred to Wayside Waifs when my last shelter ran out of space for me. It's okay, though! I've been having so much fun with my fellow Waifs, and I know my family will be here for me any day now.

I'll do great in a home with children or other furry friends, but I'd like to meet them before heading home to get an idea of how we all get along. I'm a 47-pound ball of energy, so staying active is important! I'll do best in an active home where I'll get plenty of play time. I love to get out on walks and explore the world, but I'll benefit from using a harness so I can learn to stick right by your side instead of pulling ahead.
I'll need some basic obedience training so I can learn exactly what you expect from me, but I'll learn the ropes in no time! I already know the command Sit, and I'm eager to learn even more, especially when I'm motivated by praise or yummy treats!

I'm a goofy, playful girl looking for a family to give all my love to. If you think that might be you, please stop by and say hi!
