Because of You by Randy Barr | Dog Song Saturday

Randy Barr and his dog, Ernie

Kick off your weekend with a dog song and music video with Dog Song Saturday here at Talking dogs.  I know you'll love singer / musician Randy Barr's new dog song and I've got a demo for you!

I've been collecting dog songs for years now and my favorites are original song composed about dogs.  Randy's song Ernie and Me is one of my all time favorites.  Because of You promises to be another fave.  Listen to the lyrics and you may feel Randy wrote this song especially for you and your dog.

It's pretty obvious that Randy wrote this song for his beloved dog, Ernie, and I'm loving the demo's accompanying video.

Randy's music has been described at melodic rock with a kick and is available on cdbaby , Amazon, and iTunes.  Be sure to visit Randy's website and sample some of his other music.

Randy is a genuine dog lover who believes in making the world a better place for them, too.  In fact, he's been working with his favorite charity, Canine Cancer Awareness, Inc for quite some time.  Canine Cancer Awareness, Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the prevalence of canine cancer, its effects and the available treatment options.  Donations made to CCA are used for veterinary care for dogs with cancer whose families are financially unable to provide treatment.  If you make a $10 donation to Canine Cancer Awareness, Randy will make a digital recording for you - personalizing his song Ernie and Me with your own dog's name.  Get your dog song here.

Sit.  Stay.  Grab a dog to snuggle while you listen to Because of You by Randy Barr.  Fetch more dog songs at Talking Dogs.  You'll be surprised at how many we've collected.

Adopt Clyde a Doberman Mix Dog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

This handsome fellow is Clyde.  He's a 6 year old Doberman Pinscher / Hound mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation in New York.  Somehow he found himself at Wayside Waifs animal shelter in Kansas City, Missouri, where he's now looking for a loving forever home.

Here's Clyde's adoption story:
Hey everyone. My name is Clyde, and boy do I have a story to tell you all. So just pull up a chair, relax and let me tell you the story of a boy named Clyde.

I came to Wayside after some of my human friends rescued me from a hoarding situation in New York. So I have come a long way to find my new home, and I cannot wait to me my new family. Now you may be thinking I should be partnered with someone named Bonnie, but that is a different story and mine is much better.

I am a 6 year old Doberman Pinscher/Hound mix. Yes I am a little older, but that makes all my stories so much better. I can be a little shy at first when I meet people, but once I warm up I sure do like to get lots of love. Don't let that fool you as I am not a homebody. I love to get out, sniff, walk, run and when I am comfortable with everyone I just would like to play.

Now, my story keeps going on as well. I can get along with other dogs and small humans, but I just need to meet them first. I just want to make sure that we all get along so our story won't end. I do know how to sit and love to get treats, but I can always learn new things as well. Also I may need to be refreshed on my house training, but that won't be a problem. I just want a new chapter and any new stories I can write, I am ready to do with you.

I have a new lease on life and a new chance to write a new chapter in my life. I would love that chapter to include my new family. Will you be the happy ending I have always been looking for? Come see me and let's find out.

Smiles and wags,  Clyde

Adopt Dollar a Pitbull Shepherd Dog @WaysideWaifs in KCMO

This big beautiful boy is Dollar.  Though he may look like a big Lab mix,  Dollar has had DNA testing and he is a German Shepherd / American Staffordshire Terrier mix.  He's four years old, weighs 78 pounds and is mostly housebroken.

Dollar's story really pinged my heartstrings.  Though no fault of his own, he's kind of been caught in a revolving door at Wayside Waifs animal shelter in Kansas City, Missouri.

First adopted from Wayside when he was 6 months old, that family broke apart and Dollar found himself back at the shelter.  Adopted again a few years ago, Dollar was surrendered to Wayside when his boy left for collage and the family no longer wanted him.

I'll let Dollar tell you the rest of his story:
Hi there, I'm Dollar! I roll with the flow and try my best never to let anything get me down. I am a survivor and a lover and a simple dog who just wants to be part of a family. I get confused though, thinking back on my life and how it might have been different. Why has the love of a forever family been so elusive for me? I'm back at Wayside now, and this time around, I will finally find the home and family that I so deserve. I hope it's with you. I hope we find each other and realize we were meant to be together all along. I believe there is a reason I'm here, and it is so that I can finally find you.

I am a handsome and fun, 4 year old, 78 pound, mostly housetrained, German Shepherd/American Staffordshire Terrier mix. My breeds are a wonderful combination of loyalty, devotion, strength, and smarts. I even had a DNA test done a couple years ago, so I guess I'm sort of official, even though some of my friends insist I look more like a big ol' Black Lab! And in all honesty, I'm just a simple, sweet dog who is smart, affectionate, and happy, regardless of my breed and despite all the struggles I've had in my life. I just want to love and be loved. While I don't like to dwell on my past, I think it's important to share my full story with you, so here goes.

I first came to Wayside as a stray when I was just a 6 month old pup. There were some leads about who I belonged to, but I had already been passed around in my short life and no one seemed to want me, so I was put up for adoption. I did find a new home and things went ok for a while. But then my family life fell apart. There was a break up and I was caught in the middle. At just 2 years old, I found myself back out on the streets, alone and scared. I eventually made my way back to Wayside, where I spent about 5 months making friends and entertaining the volunteers. Then one day, I got adopted! I had a boy all my own and he loved me. Life was good...until he went away to college and the rest of the family didn't really want me. Once again, I was the odd man out.

I was with that family for about a year and a half, but now I find myself back at Wayside yet again. I've been busy reuniting and catching up with all my old volunteer pals. I see that they feel sad for me, so I try to cheer them up, letting them know that I'm ok and that I'll get through this! They just don't realize that I'm here waiting for you, so I'm good. I know you'll find me when the time is right. And I will appreciate you and feel grateful to you and make you feel special, every single day, for the rest of my life.

I hope you can be dedicated and committed to me. I've never had that in my life before, but it's something I really need. I will need daily exercise, to keep me fit, happy, and healthy. I need to lose a few pounds, but that will be easy to do with you by my side, exercising with me and giving me nutritious meals. Please be patient, consistent, and understanding with me, as I get acclimated to my new life with you. Since I'm smart and treat motivated, training me is easy and I already know several commands. It makes me happy to make you happy, so the sky is truly the limit with what I can learn. In fact, I've been working out at the agility park here at Wayside, and I'm a natural. I also love my toys so much.

Since I'm a rough and tumble sort of dog, with strength that I don't always fully realize, I think I'll be happiest in a home without kids under the age of 5, please. And for now, I'd like to be your only animal. At some point in time, I might do just fine with other dogs, but for now, I want all of your attention and love. After a day of fun, I want nothing more than to cuddle and chill out with you. I'm super silly, sweet and affectionate. I hope you'll give me the time to show you what a lover I can be!

Sure I've had a rough life and sometimes it just doesn't seem fair. But I can handle it! I'm resilient and I have a fantastic, charming personality that never lets me down. Just when things look bleakest for me, someone steps in and makes a difference in my life. I'm so grateful and I've found that people are good way more often than bad. So I just need one more really good person (I'm thinking of you!) to do that for me...to make me family and promise to stick with me for the rest of my life. It happens for other dogs, why can't it happen for me? No reason, no reason at all. I just have to continue to be patient until you find me. I hope it's soon.
Love, Dollar

Dollar needs a family to call his own that will be a loving forever home.  Take a look at his adoption video so you can see him in action.  He's a sweetie who is eager to please.   For more information about adopting Dollar call Wayside Waifs at  816-761-8151 or 816-986-4426.  Dollar's animal ID number is 12801819

Adopt Alex a Senior Beagle Dog in Missouri

This adorable guy is Alex.  He's a 9 year old Beagle dog mix at the Humane Society of Missouri's St Louis City animal shelter.

Alex loves people and exploring the world.  He appears to be housebroken and walks very nicely on a leash.

According to the American Kennel Club:
Beagles are happy-go-lucky and friendly, making them a wonderful family pet.  They are also favored for their compact size and short easy to care for coat.  Since they lived in packs for hundreds of years, they naturally enjoy the company of other dogs and humans.  Curious and comedic, they often follow their noses - which can lead to some mischief if they are not provided with daily activity.

You'll notice in his video that his tail has been cropped.  Why?  Who knows.  It is an odd look for a Beagle.  You'll also notice a lot of white on Alex's cute face.  At our house we call that sugar because as a dog ages it just gets sweeter.

Take a look at Alex's adoption video and then call the HSMO at 314-951-1562.  His animal ID number is A393644
