I'm a French Bulldog Lyrics: ©TaylorBrown

Sitting on the couch watching the world go round
from my window, from my window
sometimes I feel like this house is like a cage that I cant escape
and it's got me trapped and I wanna open up the door but I can't
Because I don't have any thumbs and on a good day stand two foot one
and I cant reach the door nob even if I could my heads to big to balance on my back two legs
I tried to stand up straight, but then a car drove by and I chased it, yea I chased it
and thats when I remembered I'm a french bull dog
yea dont call me english, I'm a french bull dog
possibly one of the sweetest you've ever met a french bulldog
I've got to get at least 18 hours of sleep per day
and if you scratch me behind the ears I'll probably love you forever even though I'm not gay
I swear I'm not gay, yea I know what it looks like
yea I know that it looks that way but I swear Im not gay

Next time you think you've got it bad why don't you try to think a bit about me
a wild beast from the jungle at heart taken from my home and raised in captivity
I've never even met my dad, haven't seen my mom since I was only 6 weeks
and I'm fed the same damn thing every morning and night that lamb and rice don't taste nothing like meat
and if you think you can top that and still not complain and love the five dads you have all exactly the same, by licking their face and humping their legs and allowing them to give you best friend massages all day
but I'd be willing to bet a bag of bones that you have never ever been paid, to impregnate a girl because of what your papers say you fools have no idea exactly what it takes to be a french bull dog
yea dont call me english, I'm a french bull dog
guaranteed the sweetest you'll ever meet a french bulldog
I've got to get at least 18 hours of sleep per day
and if you scratch me behind the ears I'll probably love you forever even though I'm not gay
I swear I'm not gay, yea I know what it looks like
yea I know that it looks that way but I swear Im not gay
I'm a french bulldog, I might be a little small, but I swear I'm not gay,
I'm gonna take a nap, a nap is where its at
Whooaaaaaaa

Birthday Party for Rosie | Wordless Wednesday

Those of you who joined us last Wednesday or follow us on Facebook already know that we finally celebrated Rosie's birthday.  Since she had to wait, we made sure it was a festive celebration.
Rosie and Rudy both got to go to Dairy Queen to share a cup of soft serve.
As you can see, Rosie didn't mind alternating spoonfuls with her brother Rudy.

She also didn't mind posing with her birthday gifts!  Chewy sent her a very cool (and ultra soft) P.L.A.Y. pumpkin plush squeak toy and some Blue Buffalo Health Bars..  Canidae sent her some pawsome Bison and Pumpkin dog treats.  The Dog Daddy, Rudy and I gave her a couple of new plush bottle toys and some Zuke's minis.

After sampling her treats, Rosie began the party games with her favorite - the Nina Ottosson DogTwister.

A good time was had by all!

Adopt Sebastian a #Mastiff Dog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

This big beautiful brindle boy is Sebastian. He's a 4 1/2 year old 96 pound Bullmastiff mix who is a doggone good cuddler.

Here's his adoption message:
Hi, I'm Sebastian! I'm an adorable Bullmastiff mix weighing in at 96 pounds. I'm a big boy with an even bigger heart! My last shelter ran out of space for me so I was transferred to Wayside Waifs.
I'm so happy I'm here because I know have the best chance at meeting a family who really loves me! Think that might be you? I'll do grrr-eat in a home with children or other furry friends but I need to meet them first to get an idea of how I might do once I'm home.
I'm really smart and with some basic obedience training I'll make the most well mannered pup. I already know the commands sit and shake and I'm eager to learn even more from you. Get me extra motivated with some praise or yummy treats! I also love to get my exercise! Getting out on my leash and exploring the world is one of my favorite things to do but because of my size I'll benefit from using a harness on walks to help me stick right by your side. If you've been longing for a big, fluffy guy to cuddle up next to at night then look no further! I'm right here at Wayside Waifs!

For more information about Sebastian,

The DQ Drive Through Window | Wordless Wednesday

We finally got around to taking Rudy and Rosie to the Dairy Queen for Rosie's birthday.  Believe it or not, our food obsessed birthday girl was more interested in watching the DQ drive through window than her cup of soft serve!

That's not to say she didn't enjoy the ice cream!

Heaven Has Another Angel RIP Cakes | Wordless Wednesday

Cakes
1984 - 2016

Cakes passed away sometime the night of Monday, January 4 in her sleep.
Her burial was today, Wednesday, January 6, here on our farm.

We purchased Cakes in 1985 when she was just 1 year old to be a weaning buddy for my filly, Ditty (daughter of my heart horse, Lady.)  She came with the name Babe, along with her mama, Rocky.  We soon altered her name to Cakes because she tended to look as if she'd had a few too many cakes or cupcakes.  Poor girl fought a weight problem for most of her life.

We were blessed with nearly 31 years with this blue eyed crazy character who was every bit as sweet as her name.

Run free, sweet Cakes.
You will be greatly missed and remembered with love.

Say Yes to These Ears and Adopt Starr a #Pitbull Mix Dog @WaysideWaifs in #KCMO

She had me at the ears.  Seriously. I am seriously in love with this girl's ears!  Starr is a pitbull mixed breed dog who is looking for a forever home.

Starr's 4 years old and about 50 pounds of love.  She is a bit picky about who she spends time with (I can't blame her since I am, too), so she's really like to be the solo queen of her new castle.  She's treat motivated and eager to learn some basic obedience.

Here's Starr's adoption message:
Hey there, I'm Starr! I'm a 52-pound girl with so much love to give. I was transferred here when my last shelter ran out of space for me. I don't mind because I know I've been given the best chance at finding my new family! I've had so much fun as a Waif and I know I'll have even more fun in my fur-ever home. I'm recommended to go to a home with children over the age of 5 because I can be picky about who I feel comfortable around. For the same reason I may do best as the queen of my castle instead of sharing a home with other furry friends.

Exercise is important in any dog's life so I'd love a home where I'll get plenty of it. I like to explore the world on walks but all the new sites and sounds easily excite me so I'll benefit from using a harness to teach me not to pull ahead. I'll need some basic obedience in my new home but I'm a smart girl and I know I'll catch on quick! I already know the command "come" and I'm eager to learn even more from you, especially when yummy treats are involved. Whether we're getting active or lounging around the house I'll be happy as long as I'm by your side. If you're looking for a girl like me to give lots of love and affection, please come meet me soon at Wayside Waifs! Tail wags for stopping by.

For more information about Starr,
contact Wayside Waifs at  816-761-8151.

Happy 2016!

I might be waggy but I wanna play
I'm your best friend, you can get awake
I deserve a treat cuz I'm a fluffy babe
I got hair, shakin' the air, doggy by the day

Because I'm yappy
Bark along if you feel like your master loves you
Because I'm waggy
Wag along if you feel like your tail is chasing you
Because I'm floppy
Howl along if you want a cuddle from me to you
Because I'mma doggy
Dog around if you think you're my best friend too

Hey, woof on

Come, Stay, Down
K-9
Come, Stay, Down
My bark is too high
Come, Stay, Down
K-9
Come, Stay, Down
I shake...

Because I'm yappy
Bark along if you feel like your master loves you
Because I'm waggy
Wag along if you feel like your tail is chasing you
Because I'm floppy
Howl along if you want a cuddle from me to you
Because I'mma doggy
Dog around if you think you're my best friend too

Hey, woof on

Come play now.... K-9...
Come play now... My bark is too high
Come, Stay, Down... K-9
I shake...
