Birthday Party for Rosie | Wordless Wednesday

Those of you who joined us last Wednesday or follow us on Facebook already know that we finally celebrated Rosie's birthday.  Since she had to wait, we made sure it was a festive celebration.
Rosie and Rudy both got to go to Dairy Queen to share a cup of soft serve.
As you can see, Rosie didn't mind alternating spoonfuls with her brother Rudy.

She also didn't mind posing with her birthday gifts!  Chewy sent her a very cool (and ultra soft) P.L.A.Y. pumpkin plush squeak toy and some Blue Buffalo Health Bars..  Canidae sent her some pawsome Bison and Pumpkin dog treats.  The Dog Daddy, Rudy and I gave her a couple of new plush bottle toys and some Zuke's minis.

After sampling her treats, Rosie began the party games with her favorite - the Nina Ottosson DogTwister.

A good time was had by all!

Paws Up for Bugsy's Box Dog Treats and Toys | Product Review

Rosie and Rudy get ready to review Bugsy's Box dog treats and toys.
Bugsy's Box is a treat for those who enjoy pampering their dogs and consider them family.  From delicious treats to fun toys and other essentials - many of which are hard to find locally - you can count on high-quality, gourmet, happy surprises for your favorite pup.

According to their website Bugsy's Box is a monthly box of surprises for pets.  Each Bugsy's Box includes 5 to 7 items which are "a variety of high quality, hand picked, well reviewed dog treats, toys, care items, healthy supplements, accessories and more surprises such as coupons which are often included as a bonus."  All treats are made in the USA and shipping is included in the subscription price.

We received the June Bugsy's Box which included the following items:

Fetch and Glow Boomerang from American Dogs Toys - a fetch toy that glows in the dark and floats.  High quality, durable and non-toxic.  Can be used indoors or outdoors, including the pool.  Retail price: $9.99
Paws up!  Rosie especially loves playing fetch with this toy.  Definitely a winner.
Rosie loves the Fetch & Glow Boomerang in our Bugsy's Box.

Collapsible Travel Bowl is perfect for any dog on the go.  Features cute paw prints on the outside and a durable inner lining.  Can be used for water or food when you're out and about with your dog. No retail price available, however a similar item on Amazon retails for $4.99.
Paws up!  Though I doubt we'll use this often, it's great to take along in the car.  Since it folds so small, it easily fits in the glove box.

Jeffie was very enthused about the Brewscuits dog treats in our Bugsy's Box.
Brewscuits Treats are hand crafted dog biscuits that incorporate the whole grain used to brew beer to create a one of a kind treat.  Brewscuits do not contain any chemical preservatives or grains that are difficult to digest (corn, gluten, soy) making them the perfect biscuit.  Plus, they're alcohol free.  We received Brewscuits Training Bits in peanut butter flavor.  A 4 oz bag retails for $6.50.
All paws up!  These were the real winner!  Jeffie, Rudy, and Rosie LOVE them.  Definitely on my "to order" list.

Rudy thought the Brewscuits were the very best thing in our Bugsy's Box.

Piggy Twizzies - all natural, grain free, chews high in protein and easily digested.  Grain free, gluten free, soy free and dairy free.  No artificial ingredients, colors or flavors.  And they naturally preserved.  A package of 30 retails for $69.03 at Amazon.
3 dogs - 1 Twizzie.  You do the math.  So far no dog has gotten lucky and tried this treat.

Wagathas Treats are healthy dog biscuits.  We received their new Cranberry Cheddar with Mint biscuits.  Cranberries are known to help with urinary tract health and spearmint combats doggie breath.  These biscuits feature human grade cerified organic ingredients including white cheddar cheese, spearmint and rosemary oil.  A 16 oz box retails for $10.95 (not including shipping)
Paws up!  All three dogs definitely liked these organic dog treats and I've bookmarked their website.

Bugsy's Box plans include monthly at $29/mo, 3 month at $69 ($23/mo) and 6 month at $114 ($19/mo) plans.  Bugsy Boxes are shipped on the 15th of each month.  Plans automatically renew unless you decide to cancel prior to renewal.

As you can see, our June Bugsy's Box contained products that retailed for about $34.73 - not including shipping.  Not at all a  bad deal for $29.  AND if I'd been a 3 month subscriber my price would have been $19 which would have made it a fantastic bargain!

We reviewed the June Bugsy's Box.

This Bugsy's Box afforded us an opportunity to try products that are totally new to us.  That's a very good thing!

You do have the opportunity to choose your dog's size, but truly customized boxes are not available.  For example, if your dog has food sensitivities, it's a roll of the dice.  Though Bugsy's Box notes that there are usually 2-4 different treats in each box so, hopefully, your dog won't be allergic to all the products in any given box.

Rosie is all smiles about the Wagatha's dog treats in our Bugsy's Box.
The dogs certainly gave paws up to the treats!  If you like surprises and don't mind a product or two that you might not care for, the Bugsy's Box is barking good.  The one "catch" is that you definitely need to manage your subscription.  If you decide not to continue with their program, you must cancel.  Otherwise your subscription will continue and you will be billed.

All in all, FUN!  I'd consider ordering for my dogs, as well as ordering gift subscriptions for friends.  Fetch Bugsy's Box now!

* Disclosure:  We received one Bugsy's Box in exchange for our honest review of the product and service.  We received no other compensation - financial or otherwise.

New Kong Off/On Squeaker Dog Toys Product Review

We love KONG!  So when the KONG Company asked us if we'd like to give one of their new dog toys a try, we said YES!

We received a new KONG Off/On Squeaker - Bear toy.  These new dog toys are made from their popular AirDog material and allow pet parents to switch the squeaker on and off for loud fun or quiet play.

All three of our dogs were thrilled with the KONG Off/On Squeaker Bear toy.

We liked it because the non abrasive tennis material won't wear down our dogs' teeth.  It was perfect for a game of fetch.

When we'd had enough of the squeaking (Jeffie, too), we simply turned off the sound with the twist-an "off switch."

The squeaker in this toy is loud.  It certainly got our dogs' attention! The first time I turned it off, I found the switch to be stiff and I wished I'd used something other than my fingernail to operate it.  Subsequent use loosened up the switch considerably.

The new KONG Off/On Squeaker dog toys are available in Bone, Dog, Rattle, Whale and the Bear like we received.  Plus, they come in two sizes:  medium and large.  Available at popular pet retailers for $12.99 to $14.99 each.

We've been giving our dogs KONG toys for years.  We've found them to be safe, soft in their mouths, very durable, and they keep our dogs engaged for both inside and outside play.   The new KONG Off/On Squeaker is a barking good addition to the KONG dog toy offerings.

Rosie loved being a part of this product review.  Just look at that tail - blurry due to very happy wagging!

Talking Dogs is very pleased to highly recommend the new KONG Off/On Squeaker dog toy!

* We were given one KONG Off/On Squeaker toy in exchange for our honest opinion of the product.

Wordless Wednesday: Jeffie and His Dog Toys

Jeffie's first very own rope toy.
Please, please throw the tennis ball.
C'mon... it's never too cold for some Flippy Flier action.
And what's this new toy?  Jeffie's very own puppy.
Best. Toy. Ever.
Jolly Ball is a game best played with your best friend.

Wordless Wednesday: Rudy Has a Birthday

Our yellow Labrador Retriever puppy is a puppy no more.  Rudy celebrated his birthday last week and he's now one year old.  Rudy's milestone came on the heals of Tucker's death, so we weren't really feeling like much of a party.  However, we knew we wanted to celebrate and that a celebration of life was, truly, just what we needed.

You'll find no party hats on dogs here.  Instead, photos (probably too many) of Rudy's big day.

A bit of background.  We live in a rural area.  The closest town has only one place that welcomes dogs.  We thought it would be fun to let Rudy pick his own gifts, so Rudy went shopping.

Rudy examined a red Jolly Ball, but the photographer took too long to focus.  Rudy's attention had already strayed to checking out other shoppers.

Okay, back to shopping.  Hmmm... lots of balls!  But where are the squeaking toys?
Sniff, sniff... Food!  They have eats here!

A tire with a rope looks good.  Ands smells a whole lot like a blue one at home...
How about a squeaking football?
At home again, you'll see that our very own Gater Boy (aka Bitey Whitey, Rudy) chose a gater toy.  It's pretty cool.  The fleece gater cover fits over a water bottle that has a removable cap which emits horrible crying noises.  That coupled with the crackling of the water bottle makes it a current favorite.  And an object worth a whole lot of examination - from top to bottom.  Especially the bottom.

They say you should stick with your first choice and Rudy did.
That bright red Jolly Ball came home with us, too.
Jeffie was thrilled with Rudy's selection.
Since Rudy was the birthday boy, Jeffie even let him "win."

Well, there had to be a few challenges or the game isn't fun.
Right?  Right.

Happy Birthday, Rudy!
