Monday Mischief: Herons, Rain, Hobbits, Dog Photos

Between Mother Nature and birthday celebrations, the past few days have been filled with mischief at our house.

We've been in such a drought for so long that I've sworn to not complain about rain.  However, it is getting harder by the (rainy) day not to shout to the heavens:  Give us some sunshine!

The dogs are either soaking wet and muddy as can be from venturing out, or bored silly.  (Thank Dog for our Soggy Doggy doormat and shammy!)

With the creek flooding - just a bit - into the yard, Rudy has been frogging, but coming up empty so far.  Our white heron visitor (shown above) has been a real frustration to the dogs.  With the rain pouring down, they couldn't go out to get a closer look. Since the heron is a symbol of patience and going with the flow, I've decided Mother Nature is sending us a message.

We've also been celebrating the Dog Daddy's birthday.  He's a huge fan of The Hobbit.  I'm not a fan. At all.  I pretty much have been making mischief on myself, by enduring a Hobbit film festival.  We began with The Hobbit, then each of the Lord of the Rings movies.  Yep.  Something like 12 hours or so, along with assorted movie treats, for 4 nights.   If this was not an act of pure love on my part, I don't know what would be!

I'm beginning to get ready for the last day of Jeffie's birthday celebration. We'll be announcing the winners of the Dog Mom bracelet giveaway, Jeffie's birthday quiz, and the photo contest tomorrow!   When this is all wrapped up, I'll get busy with a slide show of our party celebration!

In the meantime...

More guests have arrived at Jeffie's Birthday Party!
Luna has on her party dress for Jeffie's birthday celebration!

Wheatie looks like he's having fun!

Jake Castelli has his party hat on & wishes Jeffie a Happy Birthday!
Just look at this sweet greeting from Artie!
Artie celebrated his first Gotcha Day yesterday!

We've joined Monday Mischief today - the pet blog hop that wraps up the weekend!  This Blog Hop is brought to you by Alfie's Blog, Snoopy's Dog Blog, and My Brown Newfies.

  1. I hope you get some sunshine soon!

  2. We have finally discovered Spring so I am trying to avoid complaining about the less than pleasant sides of Spring.

  3. The joys of spring raining days. I can relate! Great pictures! Have a great Monday.

  4. We had a nice day on Saturday and then back to cold rain yesterday. We are ready for some sun!

  5. We have had quite a bit of rain here too, some sunny days, but mostly rain! I'm hoping it will change soon!

  6. Luna was so happy to get all dressed up for Jeffie's birthday! We hope you are finally getting some sunshine!

  7. This has been just the bestest pawtry ever!!!

  8. Oh, too much rain is no fun - esp'y with pups. Love the beautiful heron though! Hope you get some sunshine soon.

Wow, Jeffie's birthday month has gone by fast! Hope he had a great time!

  9. Oh Miss Sue, we are cracking up over here. Daddy-dog LOVES The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We have watched it in order many times. He is the same with all the Star Wars movies. We feel for you. We are looking forward to tomorrow's final Birthday Bash post!!
    *Cairn cuddles*

  10. We are in the middle of some beautiful weather finally, but after tomorrow cold is returning and a possibility of snowflakes with the rain late in the week...spring, please stick around! They are talking about days of cold wet weather, so mom is ready to wash lots of dog towels!

  11. It hasnt' been raining here... well on and off, but not the last few days... I kinda like the Lord of the Rings, but geez those movies are long! Haven't seen the Hobbit yet.

  12. 12 hours, that must be love - I couldn't handle that, could handle the treats though! Tee Hee

I can send you some sun if you like, we've got stacks here in California, today it got to 97F!!

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  13. I'm a big fan of the LOTR movies, could watch them over and over again. I'd be very happy to have four days of that, but yes you must love the dog daddy very much!!

If you see Jeffie outside with a hammer watch out, he's probably building an ark. :-)

  14. We love spring! But spring does bring rain, muddy paw prints, wet dog smell, shedding season, and active wildlife. Pierson's been eyeing a family of squirrels living next door and there are bunny rabbits to chase out of the yard in the mornings.

I can't wait to see the winner of your Birthday photo contest, Jeffie! :)

  15. Party party party! Here's hoping for sunshine soon!

  16. Looks like you live in the Midwest? My hubby's family lives there and they have experienced terrible flooding. I hope it dries out for you guys soon.

  17. Hi Y'all!

That looks like some B-day party y'all had!

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog
