They've been joined by a pair of local wild geese. This pair frequently visits us and we were surprised that they didn't mind the newcomers.
In fact, at first glance we first wondered if the geese had brought early goslings along with them.
Nope, those are the ducks peacefully swimming with the geese.
Rosie didn't know what to make of the whole situation and the strange gathering of critters. She sought the safety of the deck, where she could just watch.
Rudy, onn the other hand, likes to get upfront and personal. It drives him crazy that these fowl are soooo close and he couldn't get to them. AND he was told not to bark.
"The ducks and geese are our friends, Rudy. We like the them!"
Rudy never barked at them, but as you can see from his "full alert" stance, he sure wanted to. Pretty sure he'd like nothing better than to chase them.
And what was the birthday boy, Jeffie, doing? Just doop-dee-dooping around the yard. Guess he thought they were just more birthday party guests!
We've received so many fabulous photos for Jeffie's Birthday Party Pet Photo Contest, that I'm going to share some today, plus announce the lucky winners in the Good Dog Take Outs dog treat giveaway!
Bren L, Kate V, Dogmama, Shelbie J, Jackie B, and Sharon G!

Granite has his party hat on and already has a little frosting on his nose!
Oh the brown dawgs would sure like ducks and geese so close! Love all the pictures today.ReplyDelete
Woof! Woof! Seen lots of ducks n geese. Feeling bad as the weather here is soooo odd. Happy Monday. Lots of Golden Woofs, SugarReplyDelete
It's so funny to see how different they all react to the ducks and geese. I like Jeffie's idea that they are party guests!ReplyDelete
haha Wow! How good of Rudy to not bark! That's fabulous. Titan would have barked until he dehydrated himself. :) Congrats to all the winners! Yea Me! I'll be replying to your email shortly! Thank you!ReplyDelete
I didn't realize you'd have Ducks and Geese at your pawty too! How cool!
Hope you're having a fun day :)
Your pal Snoopy :)
One time Kelly chased a duck from our camp down into the lake and swam after it...she swam so far, and wouldn't come back, that we had to go rescue her in a row boat!ReplyDelete
Wow - I'm impressed that Rudy didn't bark! Rita would have barked her fool head off!ReplyDelete
The more the merrier for Jeffie's pawrty!
Hooray for winning the treats! Rita can't wait to try out the egg & cheesy herb and the iced cinnamon roll flavors!
Rudy so wanted to join that swim party didn't he? Happy Birthday Jeffie!ReplyDelete
I'm honestly am not sure what the Newfs would do if they were that close to ducks. I would have to say they would at least bark a little.ReplyDelete
Wowzer! What a pawty! Me has enjoyed evfurry minute of it!ReplyDelete
Bailey and Katy have an interesting relationship with the birds. The birds aren't really afraid of them, but every so often the dogs feel a need to make a show of it.ReplyDelete
Oh c'mon - one little chase will cure Rudy in a heartbeat. My ducks bite my dogs all the time and the dogs HATE it. I can only imagine what a goose would do.ReplyDelete
Great pictures, those look like blue wing teal. That is cheap entertainment for the dogs. My dogs would be chasing them and not coming out of the water. Great bday party pictures!ReplyDelete
Maybe let the dogs get the Canadian Geese as they are so mean and so messy, mom can't stand the sight of them anymore! They poop every sidewalk around full and it is nasty! Other than that, super cute birthday pics again :)ReplyDelete
We have Canada geese nesting in the meadow across the road - they squawk and flap their wings at us every time we walk by! We're looking forward to the goslings tough!ReplyDelete
Wow! You lucky dogs have your own pond?! Do you get to swim in it when the birds aren't there?ReplyDelete
Wow the crowd is huge here at Jeffie's pawty...Efurryone is so festive...Maybe you should invite the ducks and geese...I'm sure none of these dawgs would chase them BOL!ReplyDelete
Rudy is smart just to watch. We don't love geese that much anymore. We have TONS of them here and they are part of the reason that Dakota hates taking walks. A Mother Goose tried to attack him and he wasn't even that close to her babies!ReplyDelete
Happy birthday! Looks like a mighty swell party! woo woo woo!ReplyDelete
Jeffie has my kind of attitude :-)ReplyDelete
We would chase those ducks and geese! That would be so much fun!ReplyDelete
You have some great dogs there, neither one of mine would leave those ducks alone. I'm pretty sure they'd both be barking and running the fence line. :-)ReplyDelete
Good boy, Rudy, for not barking. Maybe you can help me teach that to Pierson. :)ReplyDelete
I would love to play with those geese!!ReplyDelete
