Adopt Sage: Abused Golden Retriever Dog with 3 Legs

Sage is only 7 to 8 months old and already she's had a heck of a life.  This young Golden Retriever mix was shot by her owners and abandoned.

When Happy Tails Animal Sanctuary rescued Sage, both of her front legs had healed incorrectly.  A terrific veterinarian worked some surgical magic and was able to save one of her legs, but the other was amputated.

Sage is a tripod now and getting along great.

This sweet Golden girl loves to cuddle on the couch and is mostly housebroken.  Sage is current on vaccinations and already spayed and microchipped.  This beautiful survivor is ready for a long, happy life with a forever family.

Room in your heart and home for this rescue dog?  Contact Happy Tails Animal Sanctuary in Columbia, Missouri at 573-445-1680 and ask them about Sage.

  1. I really dislike people sometimes, but I try to focus on the people that stepped up to help her. Keeping paws crossed she finds a wonderful forever home.

  2. I have a feeling this lovely lady will be in a new home soon. Thanks so much Sue for helping Sage's story get out and assisting her in getting a new home that much more quickly.

    1. Is Sage still available? I understand the shelter is closing now and wasn't sure if she was still up for adoption. My girlfriend and I have a 3 legged Boxer, Reef, which was left with three legs due to similar abuse...he too was shot in his leg. We've had him for a little over two years and you wouldn't even know he's missing it. Presently, Reef is in the process of becoming a therapy dog. Our hope is that he will be able to show others that just because he was dealt a difficult hand to start his life, it doesn't mean things can't turn around. We hope he will be an inspiration to others.

We would like to expand our family and Sage looked like she would be a great fit. I hope I'm not too late to get more information on this little girl.

      Thanks,

      Lisa
