Sunshine Awards | Monday Mischief

I'm walking on sunshine... and don't it feel good!

Earlier this month I received a beautiful Sunshine Award from MK Clinton at Barking from the Bayou.  Then last week I received one from JoAnn at Sand Spring Chesapeakes

So where's the mischief?
Rosie is disappointed because these awards didn't come with dog treats!

No, the real mischief is that I'm not going to follow the rules for the awards.

Each came with a different set of rules and I'm just going to follow the ones I want to!

The easy one: thank the person who gave it to me.

Thank you,  M.K. Clinton!  If you haven't read her Barking from the Bayou blog, you should, plus she writes a wonderful award winning book series called The Returns. Personally, I love a self-described GRITS (Girl Raised in The South.) Besides, I'm in love with her Basset Hound, Bentley.

Thank you, JoAnn!  She makes me laugh with stories of hunting gators; she makes me cry with her tributes to her heart dog, Norman.  Fetch her Sand Spring Chesapeakes blog for some fun! I love JoAnn's dogs and I love her, too.

Both definitely bring sunshine into my life and I thank you so much!

Name ten things about myself?  Ummm... no thanks.  Too boring!

Pass the award on to 10 other blogs that bring me sunshine.  Nope.  Not gonna do it.  Way more than 10 blogs bring me sunshine!

So, I'm just going to call your attention to a few great blogs that are new (or new-ish) to me and pass this award on to them.
Fetch these blogs and enjoy!

Dog Song Saturday: Just a Dog

Trent Boswick and Dexter
It's Saturday, so time to take a moment and enjoy a dog song at Talking Dogs!   Today's is not really a song about dogs, but a beautiful, extremely high quality, music video presentation about loving dogs.

Just a Dog? features a slide show of dog photographs taken at Point Pleasant Park by Trent Boswick and his dog Dexter.  In Just a Dog, Trent explores that phrase we often hear:
From time to time, people tell me, 'lighten up, it's just a dog, or, 'that's a lot of money for just a dog."
Trent explains in images and words exactly why those people just don't understand.  The music that accompanies Just a Dog is Everywhere I Go by Lissie and definitely provides a perfect backdrop for this photo essay about loving dogs.

His love for dogs shines in Just a Dog, as well as his photography skills.  Trent blogs about dogs at Dogs 4 Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Fetch it to enjoy more of his wonderful dog photos and learn about this dog friendly park.

So, grab a dog.  Sit.  Stay.  Settle back to enjoy Just a Dog, because if you're reading this, you're gonna love it!   Then if you in the mood, fetch some more dog songs and videos at Talking Dogs.   Be sure to come back here to scroll down below the video to check out some barking good dog blogs, because today is a Pet Blogger Hop!

Adopt Dynamite a Quarter Horse Available at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch

Dynamite is a sorrel Quarter Horse about 9 years old. She's been at the Longmeadow Rescue Ranch shelter since October 2007 and is looking for a forever home.

According to shelter staff, Dynamite is an exceptional horse. She requires an experienced rider, but in the right hands, she has the potential to be a great performance horse. She knows leg and seat cues and is very responsive.

As you can see from the video, Dynamite carries herself well and loves to chase that big red ball. She's make a terrific cow pony.

Dynamite's name fits her. She has bucked with some riders and she has a lot of get-up-and-go. She's not a tall horse but is wide, strong and very athletic.

If you're interested in adopting Dynamite, contact the Humane Society of Missouri's Longmeadow Rescue Ranch at 636-583-8759. Dynamite's animal id number is A421897

Wordless Wednesday: Cats and Dogs

Our yellow lab puppy, Rudy and his feline sister, Skeeter, have no idea where the phrase "fight like cats and dogs" comes from.  However, Rudy does find it a challenge to entertain a cat.

Normally today's song would not be music on my iPod, however the lyrics hooked me big time.  Then there are the wonderfully endearing photos in this slide show.  Here for your listening and viewing pleasure is MC Esoteric performing Back to the Lab from their Saving Seamus Ryan album.  This song is dedicated to the Labrador Retriever and all dogs and available at Amazon, iTunes and from MC Esoteric.

Grab a dog, preferably a Labrador Retriever, but any dog will do.  Sit.  Stay.   Scroll down to read these song lyrics, then relax and groove along to Back to the Lab.

BACK TO THE LAB

women come and go but a dog stays always
all days, hanging by the couch or the hallways
the simple sound of me jingling my keys
will generate a look that could bring me to my knees
he's the type of friend that you can't stay mad around
even when you hear that shatter sound, it don't matter now
'cuz them eyes say it all and the face'll kill ya
it's great to have a face so familiar
he don't change a bit, he gon' stay he gon' sit
my currency is green his currency is a stick
i spend less time wildin' in hoods
more time in the woods 'cuz of this guy
it's all good, i got a lab, the love's essential
i saw myself as garbage he saw the potential
and when i can't grin or lift my chin
there's nobody, more happy to see me than him
yes i'll never turn my "back to the lab"
and i'm always goin' "back to the lab"
(verse 2)
that's right that's you
so happy, so honest, so loyal, so true
you got my back, got my front, got my middle
how you give so much and expect so little in return?
trainers say that you must learn
but i think we the ones that's living out of turn
we should take a tip, take a lesson, take something from yall
we need a mansion and a yacht to be happy, you need a ball
big jewelry, you ain't on it
just something simple 'round your neck with your name on it
you showed me sunsets i never took in
and shades of green i never seen 'cuz i wasn't lookin'
any mess that you made it was accidental
and when we brought the baby home, you were more than gentle
thanks for that, you'll always be the king here
this is love i'm showin, and yo i'm goin'...
"back to the lab"
