Joplin Tornado: Over 400 Pets Adopted on Saturday

The adoption event for the pets who were homeless due to the May 22nd tornado in Joplin, MO, appears to be a real success.  According to the ASPCA over 400 pets were adopted yesterday.

The ASPCA estimated that nearly 1300 pets were housed at the Joplin Humane Society's animal shelter due to the twister.  Of that number, somewhere around 500 were reunited with their owners.  The organizations promised the Joplin community that none of the pets would be euthanized.  The adoptathon held this weekend aimed to find forever homes for all those dogs and cats.  The event continued on Sunday.
