A song for kids, Dogs is an original dog song about Pancake Manor characters, Zach and Reggie.

Dog Song Saturday: I Wanna Go Home by Derek Luttrell

It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  

We love truly original dog songs the best and today's is one of our favorites.  I Wanna Go Home (A Lonesome Tail) was written and is performed here by Derek Luttrell.

I Wanna Go Home, and the video it accompanies, tells the story of Socrates, a dog rescued by Hope For Paws.

Luttrell was asked to write a song about a stray dog with a happy ending and given the suggested title: "I Want To Go Home."  This blues / folk song is the result.  Here are the lyrics to I Wanna Go Home:

The song is available for download for only $1.00 and all proceeds are donated to Hope For Paws.  Hope for Paws is a non-profit animal rescue organization based in Los Angeles.  They rescue dogs and other animals suffering on the streets and in shelters, fostering them in their home until they find them permanent loving families.  The goal of Hope For Paws is to educate people on the importance of companion animals and stop the cycle of animal abuse and neglect.

It's Dog Song Saturday at Talking Dogs!  Given the recent weather and all the snow, it seemed fitting to feature some dogs in snow today.

Before the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest, there was the All Alaska Sweepstakes.  This is the music video from the movie Running With Spirits - the 2008 All Alaska Sweepstakes.  (©2009 Husky Productions).  

The song, Dogs, Dogs, Dogs! is performed by Kyf Brewer and Jim Parkinson and the girls of Raining Hearts.  It is their salute to the true spirit of these sled dog races - the dogs!

It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  Today's song is Three Leg Dog in honor of my dog, Benji, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge a long time ago.  

Benji was a tripawd after losing a back leg to cancer.  I don't know how Joe, the "Three Legged Dog of Awesomeness from Washington State", lost his leg, but his spirit reminds me of my Benji.

I'm Telling Santa is performed by Deborah Poppink and can be purchased at iTunes.  The video tells the story of a very cute dog writing a letter to Santa and Dog all she wants for Christmas is an adorable tuxedo cat.

Dog Song Saturday: My Christmas Dream

This Saturday take a moment to enjoy a festive holiday dog song.  My Christmas Dream was composed for the ABC Family Channel movie The Dog Who Saved Christmas.  Lyrics come from Toni Bull Bua, music written by Gene Bua, Daniel Alexander and Brandon Jarrett.

The Dog Who Saved Christmas tells the story about Zeus, a yellow Labrador Retriever dog who's been left in an animal shelter because he's lost his bark.  In My Christmas Dream Zeus prays for a family who will love him for who he really is.  

In the interests of full disclosure, I have not seen this movie.  However, this is a great original dog song and, truth be told, I cannot resist a yellow Lab.
