Sniff and Mark New iPhone App for Dog Lovers

Sniff and Mark is a fun new iPhone app to play with your dog, family, and friends.  Developed by Peter Lipa, Sniff and Mark was inspired by his Vizsla dog, Skippy, and other dogs in his family.  

In this game, real dogs are the center of the action.  Players use their gps-enabled iPhones to mark along with their dogs on their walks.  The app gives a visual presentation of the dog's changing territory and keeps track of all the states visited by the dog.

Players are able to see the other Sniff and Mark dogs that have marked in a spot earlier and can also leave messages for each other.  Sort of like how dogs leave messages for each other when marking.  [insert giggle here]  The dogs earn badges as they Sniff and Mark, and their humans can see where their dog ranks in the "winners circle."

Dog Cat Holiday Love Song: I'm Telling Santa Dog Song Saturday

It's Saturday!  Time for a dog song music video at Talking Dogs.  In keeping with the Christmas season, we've got a howling good original dog song today.  I'm Telling Santa - an interspecies, holiday love song - is pretty dog-gone fun.

I'm Telling Santa is performed by Deborah Poppink and can be purchased at iTunes.  The video tells the story of a very cute dog writing a letter to Santa and Dog all she wants for Christmas is an adorable tuxedo cat.

Dog Song Saturday: Pit Bull Ban in Honor of Lennox

It's Saturday, so time for a dog song video at Talking Dogs.  Today, in tribute to the late Lennox a Labrador Retriever / American Bull Dog cross, labeled as a pit bull type dog and euthanized by Belfast officials, and to dogs everywhere, we present Pit Bull Ban by Nancy Simmonds.  

Pit Bull Ban is from her 9th Litter Musical Tails release.  It tells the story of how Nancy and her second rescued Pit Bull dog, Joey, left the province of Ontario in 2005 to find a better life without dog breed bans. The video shows Joey playing with his doggie best friends and enjoying life free of dog breed discrimination.

It may just be me, but this past week seemed to be filled with bad news.  My head has been spinning with stories of dogs shot, thrown out of moving vehicles and down trash chutes...  You know, all that kind of stuff.
