Sniff and Mark New iPhone App for Dog Lovers

Sniff and Mark is a fun new iPhone app to play with your dog, family, and friends.  Developed by Peter Lipa, Sniff and Mark was inspired by his Vizsla dog, Skippy, and other dogs in his family.  

In this game, real dogs are the center of the action.  Players use their gps-enabled iPhones to mark along with their dogs on their walks.  The app gives a visual presentation of the dog's changing territory and keeps track of all the states visited by the dog.

Players are able to see the other Sniff and Mark dogs that have marked in a spot earlier and can also leave messages for each other.  Sort of like how dogs leave messages for each other when marking.  [insert giggle here]  The dogs earn badges as they Sniff and Mark, and their humans can see where their dog ranks in the "winners circle."

Dog Song Saturday: Hard Road Motorcycle Rescue Dog

It's Saturday already and time for another dog song from For Love of a Dog.   I don't know about you, but after last Saturdays' song (The Puppy Mill Song - A State of Misery), I'm ready for something that makes me smile and my toe tap.

Hard Road is an original song written and performed by Steve Azar.  He wrote this song to tell the story of a friend who rescued a dog and, by doing that, rescued himself.   The video features the rescue dog, Spirit, riding in the sidecar of his owner's motorcycle and it's pretty dog-gone cute.

As Spirit's owner notes:  "You may have seen dogs doing tricks on shows like David Letterman and even a dog riding a skateboard, but that's not what this is about.  My rescue dog Spirit is my best friend and my true partner in crime.  Support animal rights."

Ohmidog.com John and Ace visit The Dog Bar

Very rarely does a day go by when I don't check the updates at Ohmidog.  This is my favorite dog blog on the web for dog related news and entertainment.  Sometimes I cry;  sometimes I laugh.  I am always glad I checked in with Ace and John.

Ohmidog.com is the web domain of John Woestendiek, a former newspaper reporter and Pulitizer Prize winning author who, after bloggin about dogs and animals for the Baltimore Sun newspaper, decided to unleash himself and go out on his own.  Among other things, authoring dog related book is in his future.


This summer John and his canine companion, Ace, are traveling the United States taking an up close and personal look at what dog friendly really means.  One of his recent blog posts is simply not to be missed by any dog lover.
