It's always a great day when the dogs get a box from Chewy!  This time Chewy sent some barking good dog treats for Jeffie, Rudy and Rosie to taste test.

Jeffie happily waits for a taste of Blue Buffalo Boo Bars from Chewy.

Rosie just couldn't wait to get her first taste of Boo Bars from Chewy.
Blue Buffalo Boo Bars are a huge hit at our house.   Jeffie, who always sniffs and examines any food offering, didn't hesitate to try a Boo Bar!  That's high praise for these tasty dog treats.
Rudy thinks taste testing new dog treats is very serious business.

The minute I opened the bag I was pretty sure my dogs would think this little dog cookies were a true treat.  They smell delicious and my dog agree. The cute little pumpkins impressed in each cookie make them Halloween pawty worthy!

I love the healthy ingredients, but do wish they were not so high in calorie.  Fine for Rudy, but they'll need to be rationed carefully for Jeffie and Rosie.
Look at that cute little pumpkin!  (The dog treat, not Rosie.)

We love these new Blue Buffalo Boo Bars dog treats and we love ordering from Chewy!

A Talking Dogs Ghost Story | Monday Mischief

When another pet blogger put out a call for spooky pet ghost stories, it reminded me of Tucker's story.  Though not really scary, it certainly adds some Halloween flavor!

You may remember Tucker as the original Talking Dog.  Though he lived here in Missouri, he spent most of his life with us in southside Virginia.

We spent a few years restoring a 256 year old three story plantation manor house there, then enjoyed it for quite awhile.  Including visits from former residents.  Very old former residents.

We had been there about a year when we realized we weren't always alone.  When "they" were visiting, we'd be in the kitchen (first floor).   Usually it began with the faint whiff of pipe tobacco odor.  Then we could very faintly hear music (flute or recorder) and it was Colonial era music.  Sometimes we could hear voices, clinking of glassware, all very soft in tone.  All of this was coming from the original dining room (right above where we were.)

When these incidents began, Tucker would become quite excited and race up the stairs.  He might pause on the second floor for a bit, but would then madly skitter up the next flight of stairs to the third floor.   Always to the large room that was the children's bedroom in Colonial times.

We could then hear him racing around and playing.  The times we followed him, we'd find him happy as can be.

There was never, ever an evil feeling or vibe about any of this.  It never felt threatening in any way.  I always liked to think the former residents of our home liked what we were doing to their house.   They obviously liked Tucker and the feeling was mutual.

Thank you to Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday Mischief!

Black Cat Jewelry at For Love of a Dog

Party Cat Bracelet ©ForLoveofaDog.com

My business name may say dog, but I love cats, too!  It seemed right to talk about black cats and my black cat jewelry on Halloween.

Shown at top and below is what I like to call a Party Cat Bracelet.  An adorable black cat handmade lampwork bead is surrounded by green and red lampwork beads, fat faceted red crystal beads, with lots and lots of crystal dangles for "cha cha."  Check out that cute mouse and cat head toggle clasp.  This is a one of a kind piece of jewelry and it is so much fun!

Shown below is a wonderful cat lover necklace.  The pendant includes a hand carved wooden three dimensional cat head with a big, fat black onyx heart.

These adorable black cat earrings are all about the handmade lampwork beads:  black cat faces on a fun blue glass base.

What would a Halloween blog post be without some cats with those perfect arched backs, like these silver cat earrings.
