Dog and Butterfly by HEART | Dog Song Saturday

Saturday means it's time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  Kick off your weekend with mellow tune inspired by a sheepdog:  Dog and Butterfly by HEART.

Dog and Butterfly is the title track to HEART's fourth studio album by the same name and was released as the album's second single.  This song is more a folk song for the band in comparison to their hard rock hits.

HEART's love for dogs shows in this song.  Ann Wilson was inspired by her sheepdog.  Watching from her window as her sheepdog chased a butterfly, she wrote these lyrics.  Nancy Wilson notes:
It struck me how symbolic as to how life can be.  When you're an earthbound creature we're always jumping and reaching for things we can never really catch, but you try anyway.  And that's the point of the song:  we're always trying to grab at something higher.
Grab a dog to cuddle.  Sit.  Stay.  Relax and enjoy A Love Song To My Dog Daisy with Say It TwiceThen fetch some more genuine dog song music videos at Talking Dogs.  You'll be surprised at how many we've collected over the past few years.  And if you love sheepdogs, be sure to fetch Martha My Dear performed by the Beatles!

  2. It is odd that we all have that desire to reach things out of reach, get up after a fall and keep going, thank goodness we do or we would be in trouble.
