Yesterday a Wire Fox Terrier aptly named Steele Your Heart won Best in Show at the 2011 National Dog Show.  Steele Your Heart, also known as Eira (pronounced Ira) beat out 1,500 other dogs to win the competition.

Eira triumphed over six other dog group winners: an Affenpinscher named Joey who won the Toy Group;  a Whippet named Chanel who won the Hound Group;  a Bernese Mountain Dog named Tanner who won the Working Group;  a Dalmatian named Ian who won the Non-Sporting Group;  an Australian Shepherd named Reckon who won the Herding Group;  and an English Springer Spaniel named Zelda who won the Sporting Group.

Eira is four years old and from California. This is her 17th Best in Show title.  She'll try to continue her winning streak at the Westminster Kennel Club show in February in New York.  A win there would make her the third dog to win both competitions in the same year.  In 2009, Eira's handler, Gabriel Rangel, won both shows with a Scottish Terrier named Sadie.

The National Dog Show is hosted each year by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.
