Helping Pets in the Colorado Flooding #COFlood

Helping Pets in the Colorado Flood Disaster - BlogPaws Be the Change for PetsColorado needs our help.

According to recent news, what is being called the 100 Year Flood has caused 11,750 people being evacuated, 8 lives lost, more that 600 people still unaccounted for, and over 17,000 structures and home damaged, plus over 1500 homes completely destroyed.  It also has caused hardship and tragedy for pets and livestock animals.

So what can you do to help?  Spread the word:
  • The Longmont Humane Society has an online fundraiser specifically for pets displaced by the flooding.  Make a donation here.
  • The Humane Society of Boulder Valley has been taking in pets and is collecting donations here.
  • The Larimer Humane Society is accepting pets and housing some lost pets from the heavy flooding that hit Loveland, Co.  You can make a donation here.
  • Follow Colorado Disaster Wildlife/Flood Lost and Found Pets on Facebook and Twitter.  They are sharing displaced pets and animals of all sizes.
  • Follow PetAid Colorado on Facebook to share their assistance efforts.
  • Visit www.freekibble.com and www.freekibblekat.com and answer the trivia questions.  100% of the Halo Spot's Stew kibble raised today, Tuesday, September 17, will be donated to Colorado animal shelters assisting people and pets impacted by the flood.

  5. Excellent post with great resources!
This is such a terrible situation, and it seems like one state or another is always in a state of crisis or tragedy. Whether tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, earthquakes... there's always something going on... something to recover from :(.
Many prayers for the people and pets of Colorado.
