Though I think Mother Nature has been the real mischief maker this summer with her crazy ideas about the weather, I suppose I was the one making mischief at our house yesterday.
I recently confessed that we give our dogs nibbles and tastes of all kinds of people food. Birthdays are celebrated with trips to the DQ where the dogs share a bowl of ice cream. Yes, they eat very nicely from a spoon and know to take turns. Plus, there are some trips to the vet that just have to be rewarded with a sausage biscuit from MickeyD's.
If you disapprove and are wearing your judgey-pants, just move along... nothing to see here!
Yesterday I realized that Rosie had never had an ice cream cone.
Years ago my mom turned me on to these itty bitty, mini ice cream cones. Pretty cool! Each dog just gets one and, the truth is, we only do this once in a blue moon. After all, Rosie's been with us 8 months and this is her first.
Rosie carefully takes her ice cream cone from the dog daddy.

The plate shown here is a small dessert plate - these cones are little!
Jeffie knows what's coming and this is very serious business!
I think Rudy is watching to make sure the cones are equal in portions.
Rosie is clueless... except we're in the kitchen
which always means something good will be coming her way.
Jeffie sniffs first, then gobbles.
Rudy works fast, hence the very blurry photo.

More, please....

Hasn't this summer just been so crazy with the way the weather has gone?
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you let them have some ice cream, I gave the dogs ice cream a few times and Sherman eats it so darn fast he pukes it back up!
Zero puking here... just lots of begging for more :-)
DeleteMmm yummy! And I'm laughing out loud at "judgey-pants" hahaha... I give Shiner stuff too sometimes and she gets plenty of extras from the baby. She's never had an ice cream cone before I don't think. She has had those Frosty Paws though!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes say I live in a third-world-part-of-the-US... nobody sells Frosty Paws here :-(
DeleteOh ya....these guys love Ice cream. Rosie looks hooked now, LOL
ReplyDeleteYep, definitely hooked! :-)
DeleteIce cream is not good for dogs digestive track, and the sugar in ice cream isn't good either, no dairy is really, yoghurt is a better choice
ReplyDeleteYum... I want one!
ReplyDeleteC'mon over!
DeleteLooks delicious. What lucky pups you have to get the occasional special treat!
ReplyDeleteKelsey
They'd love to have a cone or two every day... but that's not how we roll ;-)
DeleteI'm glad to see someone else not getting all anal about what her dogs eat.We know what foods they shouldn't eat, and my dogs just barf up what doesn't agree with them. I stop the recycling though because of my human sensibilities.
ReplyDeleteWhenever there's barfing, that's the end of that. However, so far, no barfing with Jeffie, Rudy and Rosie. I'm tired of feeling defensive about treats given to my dogs. Jeez... they eat better (more healthy) than 99% of the public!
DeleteI don't think I've ever seen those little cones, I might give them a smidge of ice cream but I usually save the really good stuff for myself. :-)
ReplyDeleteBet the grandkids would love these tiny cones, Jodi :-)
DeleteWow guys - I've never even seen them let alone had one - I'm moving in with you! :)
ReplyDeleteBig wags
Your pal Snoopy :)
Come on over! We'll share :-)
DeleteI think we all need to splurge on junk once in a while :) Besides, I know Chester an Gretel have snagged some nasty, very bad for them stuff off the sidewalk before I could avoid it. I would rather know what is going in their mouths. Ha, ha.
ReplyDeleteExactly, Jessica! After all, I don't like to think about how Rosie got that fungus on her nose.... lol
DeleteNo judgey-pants here! Our dogs get all sorts of shares! We usually just share little bitty bites of this or that, but your dogs are bigger and can handle more. An ice cream cone once in a while isn't going to kill them.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pics... I see happy doggies! Jeffie's eyes as he's sniffing the ice cream, lol. I think I make those eyes with ice cream too.
Thanks, Pam! Since dairy doesn't bother my dogs (can you say cheese...), I don't think these tiny cones are gonna hurt 90 lb dogs when they only get them once in a blue moon! LOL
DeleteOur dogs get very little people food and mostly it is because we are lazy...lol. They may get some leftover scrambled eggs and they get yogurt with meals, but that is about it.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of mini ice cream cones. Those would probably be good with frozen yogurt too. Or even fruit and regular yogurt frozen. Heck I might even like them. :)
