I don't know much about the origins of the Doberman Pinscher dog breed.  Originating in Germany, its said that this dog breed got its name from Louis Dobermann.  Around 1900 Mr. Dobermann wanted a medium size dog who could be a companion as well as a guard dog.  Some believe that the Rottweiler, Black and Tan Terrier, the German Pinscher and the old shorthaired shepherd may be the dog breeds used to create what we know as the Doberman Pinscher.

Though we may not know the true history of this dog breed, I know that I love Dobies.  My own Benjamin was a Doberman Pinscher / German Shepherd cross dog.  Incredibly smart, loyal, obedient are just some of the adjectives I'd used to describe these dogs.
