My life was suddenly so still

So sad I lost my will

No dog to greet me at the door

Empty bowls laid on the floor

My spirit seemed to fall apart

Face to face with my shattered heart

Tears betrayed me one by one

I knew what had to be done

I saw that shelter and breathed in

Time to open up again

I left my car and stepped inside

Let some angel be my guide

The high pitched yelps ran up my spine

I met those eyes as they searched mine

Slowly I passed by each run

How could I choose just one -

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, oh, oh

The heart knows

I read each story as it was told

How can people be so cold

But some lost homes and all they'd saved

Now they too roam the streets like strays

Then through the wire, she was there

I could feel her thoughts so clear

And all the pain I had inside

Melted in her eyes

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, oh, oh

The heart knows

Inside that shelter lives are saved

Just like mine was saved that day

That shelter helps us to believe

There's still kindness in our breed

I led her down the winding halls

But somewhere I still heard a call

So I found that cat, or he found me

And now my life is shared by three

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, oh, oh,

The heart knows

Lyrics:  Like My Dog ©Scotty Emerick
He never tells me that he's sick of this house
He never says why don't you get off that couch?
He dont cost me nothin when he wants to go out
I want you to love me like my dog

He never says I need a new attitude
Him and my sister ain't always in a feud
When I leave the seat up he don't think that it's rude
I want you to love me like my dog does Baby

When I come home, I want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog

He never acts like he don't care for my friends
He never asks me where in the hell have you been?
He dont play dead when I wanna pet him

I want you to love me like my dog does honey

He never says 'I wish you made more money'
He always thinks that pull my finger is funny
I want you to love me like my dog

He dont get mad at me and throw a major fit
When I say his sister is a b**ch!

I want you to love me like my dog does baby
When I come home, I want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog

I want you to love me like my dog does Baby

I Love My Old Bird Dog (and I Love You) Lyrics
Sometimes I'm mad at the world
Mad at this town
Mad 'cause I can't lose the same five pounds
That I've been tryin' to lose for three or four years now.

Sometimes I feel like a truck that just won't run
On the side of the road in the July sun
There ain't another car for miles
That I can thumb down.

I guess every now and then
You're going to land on a bad day
Though I still do
I know I can't complain.

'Cause I love what I do
Love where I'm at
Love a strong cup of coffee and my old black hat
My big wool blanket
Sleepin' in my cowboy boots
I love my old bird dog
I like to watch him run
My red guitar I bang around on some
And I love lovin' you
Baby, I love lovin' you.

Now heaven to me it's a simple thing
It's just you and me
And a phone that don't ring
Popcorn poppin' on a lay around Friday night.

Seein' you smile when I wake up
The way you slide to the middle of my pick-up truck
The way you say baby, it's all gonna be all right
When I walk in at the end of a worn out day
And I see you baby, how can I complain.

'Cause I love what I do
Love where I'm at
Love a strong cup coffee and my old black hat
My big wool blanket
Sleepin' in my cowboy boots
I love my old bird dog
I like to watch him run
My red guitar I bang around on some
And I love lovin' you
Baby, I love lovin' you
Yes I do.

Well, I love where I've been
But I don't look back
I thank God for the life he lets me have
My big wool blanket
Sleepin' in my cowboy boots
I love my old bird dog
I like to watch him run
My red guitar I bang around on some
And I love lovin' you
Baby, I love lovin' you.

Baby, I love,
lovin' you
Oh yes I do.
Love lovin' you.

If I Could Ramble Like A Hound Dog ©Michael Hurley Lyrics
If I could ramble like a hound when he's walking down a rabbit trail
If I could ramble like a hound when he's walking down a rabbit trail
I'd keep a nose in the wind and believe me people, I'd wag my tail

If I had radar hearing like the bat like the bat that flies at night
If I had radar hearing like the bat like the bat that flies at night
I could hear all the lightning bugs turning up and turning down the summer's light

If I only knew what the wise old owl knows
If I only knew what that wise old owl knows
I'd look all night long, tell the folks about my worldly woes

If I could wallow like the great white whale in the sea
If I could wallow like the great white whale in the sea
I'd rise, I'd sink low, and forever be free

If I could sleep long like the grizzly grizzly bear
If I could sleep long like the grizzly grizzly bear
I'd sleep and I'd dream of your golden hair
